During 2010 I have been assisting Permaculture courses with the Brighton Permaculture trust. The trust runs a variety of short courses in Introduction to Permaculture, Practical Permaculture Gardening, Forest Gardening, Grafting and so on as well as a 72 hour Permaculture Design Course called ‘Building Sustainable Communities’.  Assisting the courses gives me the opportunity to observe teaching from well qualified and experienced practitioners as well as observing the groups and how they learn. Paying attention to people’s different learning styles informs how to assist the groups with their designs, making sure that everyone’s voice is heard and everyone is allowed to give input.

I have also been given the opportunity to give input in the development of new courses; the intro course and a new Permaculture for Transition course which is responding to a growing demand from the Transition Towns movement for a Permaculture course aimed directly at TT.
