Change comes from the grassroots. What makes change happen is people realizing that the power to shift the dominant paradigm lies in their hands. The idea behind participatory methodologies is changing the power relationship between ‘experts’ and ‘the locals’ or ‘teacher’ and ‘student’ and find a way of working that is more of a dialogue, opening up a space for everyone to learn from each other. This tries to address ideas around ‘whose knowledge counts’, giving space for everyone’s voice to be heard.
